The RiverScape Phase III Entertainment Pavilion & Bike Hub project completes the open space development of Dayton’s riverfront corridor.

Phase III was developed through a collaborative partnership of Five Rivers MetroParks, City of Dayton, Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, Miami Conservancy District, Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority, and Montgomery County, with support from the Downtown Dayton Partnership.

The project replaces a former coal gasification plant brownfield site with fundamental elements to increase the vitality of downtown, build upon existing adjacent development initiatives, improve personal connections with nature, and instill long-lasting, positive change for those living in the region and attraction to new businesses and residents.

A new entertainment pavilion accommodates year-round activity with open-air views of the converging river corridor—a perfect backdrop for the Summer Concert Series, and community festivals and events, as well as a 13,000-square-foot ice skating rink in the winter months for children of all ages.

The park's location is central to Downtown commuters and active families enjoying the region's 70-mile recreational trail. A new 15,000-square-foot Bike Hub provides secure, indoor bike storage, locker rooms, and concessions for park visitors, and was built as a LEED Silver regional model complete with a green roof.

The park area has also seen a reduction in stormwater runoff through calculations that factor in the green roof, permeable pavement, and sustainable landscape areas.

Phase III has been highly successful in establishing a vibrant public space for downtown Dayton.
