An outdoor extension of an interior food hall includes a large outdoor terrace with dining, kitchen and grilling areas, a garden pavilion, and seating for informal work and outdoor meetings.
The Social is a food hall and public gathering space located on the ground floor of Hilton’s global headquarters in McLean, VA. The landscape design follows the direction set forth by the project architects’ approach to the 10,000-square-foot interior eating and gathering space, extending and interpreting the formal language, color palette, and material of that space.
Like the interior, the outdoor terrace is designed to host medium to large events as well as functioning as a flexible outdoor workspace; a sort of mixing-bowl for employees and visitors that encourages interaction and collaboration.
Fire pits allow the terrace to be used after dark. The connection to the interior dining space is further strengthened by a series of large sliding glass doors that can open to provide seamless connectivity.
